Fr. Benedict
played by
Eamon Rohan

Fr. Benedict - Played by Eamon Rohan Fr. Benedict is played by veteran film, TV and stage actor Eamon Rohan. He brings a wealth of experience to the role of Fr. Benedict who is an aging wise and very intuitive priest, considered by the common people as their everyday saviour.

Eamon's most recently acted in the acclaimed TV series The Tudors, Rough Diamond, Ballykissangel among many others. He has extensive experience on the stage with such plays as Oliver, The Importance of being Earnest Merriman, Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet and The Playboy of the Western World.

To his credit he is a fluent Irish and French speaker.

Eamon was asked to play Fr. Benedict for the simple reason that he commanded an onscreen presence. He brought an aging wisdom to the character of Fr. Benedict and a warm sincerity by which he comes across. Eamon has brought so many other qualities to the character which weren't even written on the page.

Fr. Benedict is considered highly by the people where he lives and works. James Plunkett wrote of him 'who had more intuition than intellect, more genuine affection for children than for learning.' Fr. Benedict existed to help others, he lived for this and so when he met Janey for the first time in class he automatically knew there was more to this little child than meets the eye. There are people who command a warmth and energy to there presence. It would be fair to say that Eamon has brought this and more to his portrail of a great man.

Eamon is represented by
Castaway - Irish Actors Agency.
