Janey's Mother is played by Catherine O'Farrell Catherine O'Farrell who has been acting from a very young age.
As a teenager she was involved in Childrens Theatre and also worked in Childrens Radio Drama in RTE. In the late 1980s she trained with The Dublin Oscar
Theatre School where she received an acting scholarship. She then went on to work in productions in Tivoli Theatre, Abbey Theatre and with Second Age.
She has also appeared in Fair City, worked on a TV drama for S4C television and has appeared in numerous television commercials.
Janey's mother is coping with the death of her husband and the caring of her children, a young baby boy and little Janey. In those days if you were old enough
you were sent out to beg on the streets or sent to the Holy priests to beg for food.
With no social welfare that meant hard times for the poor and only for a help n' hand from
neighbours or the Catholic Church ensured you had food on the table. It is with pure frustration and necessity that Janey's mother sends her out onto the cold and wet winter streets of Dublin.
